14 Winston-Salem Coffee Shops for Every Occasion

Winston-Salem Has a Coffee Shop for Every Person and Occassion.

As a U.S. city on the rise, Winston-Salem has become addicted to caffeine. By that, I mean there’s a local coffee shop on every corner. Winston-Salem has its fair share of Starbucks and Dunkin’ locations, but we have even more independent coffee shops for those who enjoy the craft of a fresh brew. Whether on the go, studying, relaxing, or meeting a friend or a client, there’s a perfect place to grab coffee. Since Winston-Salem has a coffee shop to fit almost every mood and occasion, I wanted this article to include tags so you can quickly discern which ones appeal to you. With the school year just starting, I thought handing out “school superlatives” to my favorite coffee shops would be appropriate (and corny).Β

Anchor Coffee Co

πŸ“ 486 Patterson Ave Suite 135, Winston-Salem

πŸ… Most Likely To Host a TED Talk

Anchor Coffee Co is a large coffee shop in Bailey Power Plant, which is convenient for those who work in or close to downtown’s Innovation Quarter. With all those entrepreneurs and business-minded folks stopping through and dumping their innovative and creative ideas, Anchor Coffee could host a decent TED Talk.Β

Ardmore Coffee Shop

πŸ“ 1316 S Hawthorne Rd, Winston-Salem

πŸ… Most Likely To Brighten Your Day

Ardmore Coffee is a neighborhood coffee shop in, well, Ardmore. They have seasonal drinks, and when you walk in, it feels like the kind of local place you WANT to support. The staff is always friendly and happy to serve. You will leave Ardmore Coffee feeling content and happy.Β

Be Kind Coffee Co.

πŸ“ 3560 Clemmons Rd Suite B, Clemmons

πŸ… Most Likely To Save the Planet

Be Kind Coffee Co. brings people together through food and drinks with time-honored recipes and techniques from the owners’ families. In 2020, the owners opened Be Kind Coffee to bring the world more joy, even through something as simple as a cup of coffee and a smile.

BYGood Coffee

πŸ“ 301 Brookstown Ave Suite 300, Winston-Salem

πŸ… Best Nickname

The name ByGood Coffee comes from BUY GOOD coffee. The owners took “U” out and created a slogan, “The only thing missing is “U” to buy good coffee.” ByGood Coffee has been roasting specialty coffee since 2016.

Camel City Coffee

πŸ“ 110 Oakwood Dr, Suite F, Winston-Salem

πŸ… Most Likely To Impress Your Parents

Want to impress your folks with the local coffee scene after you’ve moved to Winston-Salem? Camel City Coffee is the place to go. Don’t believe us? Just read their Google reviews. As a frequenter of Camel City Coffee, I 100% agree.

Camino Bakery

πŸ“ 310 B W 4th St, Winston-Salem

πŸ“ 300 S Marshall St, Winston-Salem

πŸ… Most Popular

Yup, I said it. Camino is one of the most popular local coffee places in Winston-Salem. Their coffee is good, and they have prime downtown real estate on 4th Street and Brookstown. The only drawback is that the staff is often rushing to serve, so you might not get the warm and friendly smile and conversation you get elsewhere. Don’t let that deter you from visiting.Β

Clutch Coffee Bar

πŸ“ 5709 University Pkwy, Winston-Salem

πŸ“ 2432 Lewisville Clemmons Rd, Clemmons

πŸ… Most Dependable

As the name implies, Clutch Coffee is CLUTCH for when you need good coffee fast and on the go. It’s a drive-thru-only local chain, and I highly recommend it over a chain drive-thru.

Coffee Park Airstream

πŸ“ 1208 Reynolda Rd, Winston-Salem

πŸ… Most Unique

Coffee Park Airstream is also a drive-thru coffee stop, but this one is different as it operates out of an old-school airstream. The personality of this shop is fun, quirky, and VERY Winston-Salem.Β

Footnote Coffee & Cocktails

πŸ“ 634 W 4th St Suite 120, Winston-Salem

πŸ… Biggest Bookworm

Footnote is located right behind Foothills Brewpub and beside Bookmarks bookstore downtown. Grab a cup of coffee and peruse through the independent bookstore.

Melrose Coffee + Wine Bar

πŸ“ 1608 S Stratford Rd Suite C, Winston-Salem

πŸ… Most Likely To Become An Influencer

Melrose Coffee + Wine Bar is a California-inspired experience based in Winston-Salem, with other locations throughout the Triad. Their modern coffee shops incorporate the traditional familiarities of coffee culture with a unique yet tasteful twist that makes it unforgettable. Their store in Winston is like paradise for an Instagram influencer.

Moji Coffee + More

πŸ“ 690 N. Trade St, Winston-Salem

πŸ“ 660 W. 5th (Inside Forsyth County Central Library), Winston-Salem

πŸ… Best Smiles

Moji is more than a downtown coffee shop – it’s a job training and employment advocacy program for people with diverse abilities.Β Moji cultivates lasting vocational skills and advocates for the employment of people with disabilities beyond the coffee shop. Moji has you covered whether you like to drink your espresso in a cute cafe, make your cup of joy at home, or order coffee beans online and delivered.Β

The Remedy

πŸ“ 492 W End Blvd, Winston-Salem

πŸ… Most Entertaining

The Remedy is a cafe and bar located in the historic West End. It’s a cozy coffee house and a neighborhood pub; even better, they occasionally offer live entertainment.

Sayso Coffee

πŸ“ 15 Brookstown Ave, Winston-Salem

πŸ… Neat Freak

Modern, clean, and to the point – Sayso Coffee has everything you need for a coffee shop and nothing you don’tβ€”no thrills, frills, and distractions. Sayso is a great place to meet clients or get to business with studying or work.

Washington Perk & Provisions

πŸ“ 301 W 4th St, Winston-Salem

πŸ… Most Down to Earth

I’d call this spot a hidden gem. If you like the show Friends, go here. Washington Perk, or The Perk, reminds me of Central Perk from Friends. This place, located downtown, has basic coffee drinks, specialty coffee drinks, made-to-order sandwiches, wine, beer, and convenience store items. It isn’t easy to describe the unique vibe of this store, so go check it out for yourself!

Jeff Valentino

Hi, it’s Jeff Valentino. In 2019 my 2 sons and I packed up and moved to Winston Salem from the suburbs of Chicago. We didn’t know one person here. I wished there was a resource for people like me who are considering a similar move, so I decided to make one!
