Five Unique Art Galleries in Winston-Salem

As the City of Arts and Innovation, it should be no surprise that Winston-Salem is home to several art galleries. Each provides a look into the local art scene and a plethora of fantastic art. Below are five more unique art galleries you can find in Winston-Salem.

Delurk Gallery

One of the best parts about this gallery in the Arts District is that it is artist-run. Therefore, it always puts art and local artists first! They always feature a mix of all types of art. Plus, you’ll find one of the popular Art-O-Mat machines there. These machines are reinvented cigarette vending machines that sell art instead of cigarettes.

Eleanor & Egbert Davis Gallery

This gallery is within Sawtooth School for Visual Art. It features six exhibitions each year, including local, regional, and national fine arts and crafts. Some of the local art showcased is

from the school’s faculty members. Plus, they also have an annual student exhibit.

Piedmont Craftsmen, Inc.

Created in 1963, Piedmont Craftsmen, Inc. went from a kitchen table gathering to a crafters and artists guild representing almost 400 artists (refined, traditional, and contemporary) and crafters throughout the Southeast United States. The gallery is open year-round and always showcases many arts and crafts. In addition to their gallery space, they host the annual Piedmont Craftsmen Fair every November.

Red Dog Gallery

Red Dog Gallery is part of the Art For Art’s Sake (AFAS) Group. It showcases work by numerous local artists and artisans. From paintings to jewelry, they have a variety of fun exhibits on display at all

times.

Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts (MESDA)

Located at Old Salem, the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts (MESDA) showcases 18th and 19th-century decorative art and crafts from settlers in the South during that time. From ceramics to furniture, you can see how settlers lived during those times.
