Winston-Salem Neighborhood Guide – Washington Park

Known by its namesake, Washington Park neighborhood is a longstanding and fun residential area in Winston-Salem.

It’s steps away from Old Salem, UNCSA, and downtown Winston-Salem, making it convenient to some of the best sites Winston has to offer. Washington Park marks the northwest corner of the neighborhood. From there it is surrounded by S. Main St. and I-40. It is right by Silas Creek and Peters Creek Parkways, providing neighborhood residents with easy access to anywhere in the city.

Top Four Best Features of Washington Park

1. Washington Park

This is one of the larger parks in the city. It has a fun dinosaur-themed playground, basketball courts, amphitheater, two walking trails, picnic shelters, 1.11 miles par course, and more.

2. History

Like many other Winston-Salem neighborhoods, Washington Park is a historic district. It has it’s own unique historic charm with its many architectural styles and rich history.

3. Neighborhood Market

It’s hard to find actual neighborhood markets anymore. These wonderful shops are a dying business due to large box grocery stores. Luckily, Washington Park neighborhood is home to Acadia Foods. Whether picking up a bottle of wine or stopping in for a bite of pie, neighborhood residents love this quaint grocer and deli.

4. Access to All of Winston-Salem

Silas Creek Parkway and Peters Creek Parkway are two of the major transportation arteries in Winston-Salem. Best of all, I-40 puts Washington Park neighborhood within minutes of heading west to Asheville or east to Wilmington.

Hi, it’s Jeff Valentino. In 2019 my 2 sons and I packed up and moved to Winston Salem from the suburbs of Chicago. We didn’t know one person here. I wished there was a resource for people like me who are considering a similar move, so I decided to make one!
